Ohana Gallery committed and pride itself in being a responsible and ethical company – and that includes the controversial issue of logging.
Here’s our take (and a little back story).
When we stumbled into forests and mountains on search for minerals, we found out that there were a lot of abandoned tree roots. Many of the irresponsible logging companies simply left the root in the soil and refuse to take it out (cost-savings reason). We found this notion as odd and so off-base.
Tree roots anchor the soil and are vital to the health and longevity of any future vegetation. Without removing the roots, the soil is eroded, which led any replanting or any green initiatives impossible. With deforestation around the world growing at an alarming rate, we found that salvaging these abandoned tree roots are vital to mother earth. After-all, roots are the foundation of all things.
Even though we produce wood furniture, we don’t condone logging activities. We thus made it our policy to only use abandoned tree roots. Whilst we produce furniture, we simply try to salvage the resources that would otherwise be a waste, and try out best to transform it into functional, aesthetically-pleasing,
one of a kind furniture.
