Shipping traffic at the new port of Tanjung Priok increased steadily,there are many steamships and sailing ship arrived at the port.
The steam ship docked at Tanjung Priok is the S.S Swaerdecroon and was launched in 1890. which was the leading shipping line in the Netherlands Indies from 1891 until the end of the colonial period.
The S.S Swaerdecroon was sold to new owners in Japan in 1906, and its name was changed to “ Kimigayo Maru”. It continued to operate under a Japanese flag until 23 may 1945 when it hit a mine and sank not far from Shanghai, China.
