The Hoenderpasarburg
The hoenderpasarbrug (“chicken market bridge”) was the northernmost of the bridges which crossed Kali Besar and the only which was a drawbridge.
Its name was taken from a large poultry market that stood nearby on the northern end of Kali Besar west ( jalan kali besar barat) during at least part of the second half of the 18th century.
The hoenderpasarbrug still exists today, but has been repaired or completely rebuilt on numerous occasions. Many of the old wooden beams have been replaced with steel.
