The View From The Landingplaats
This painting was inspired from the scenery at a landing place for a new comer in Batavia by the sea between 1839 and 1885. This place became the scene that first greeted them after the landing.
In the centre we can see the culemborg lookout and adjoining with VOC shipyard warehouses. And on the far right side we can see three Delmans ( horse-drawn carriages) and their drivers await passenger.
From this painting we can see activities in the landing site, a place where the peoples for the first time set foot in dry land.
